Inauguration of the Pilot Project of Automation of Distribution Grid DAS

On the afternoon of January 23, Da Nang PC held the inauguration of a pilot project to automate the distribution of electricity. Attending the ceremony, there were representatives of leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, leaders of Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC), My Phuong Trading Co., Ltd., Survalent Technology Corporation (partner unit to support project implementation), and the Board of Directors and key officials of PC Da Nang.

Smart grid development (Smart Grid) is currently a groundbreaking trend and a top priority of the electricity industry in Vietnam as well as the world in order to improve the quality and reliability of power supply. To support the development in line with this modern trend, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1670/QD-TTg dated November 8, 2012 approving the Smart Grid Development Scheme in Vietnam. Accordingly, in order to develop smart grids in Vietnam, it is necessary to focus on enhancing reliability, enhancing the efficiency of power system operation, and focusing on distribution grids. On that basis, Da Nang PC has approved the smart grid development plan of Da Nang Power Company Limited for the period 2015 - 2020, with the content focusing on promoting the application of appropriate technology.

PC Da Nang has researched new technology for distribution grid automation and boldly applied it in practice. As of January 10, 2018, Da Nang PC has successfully tested the distribution grid automation system for feeders 471/Ngu Hanh Son 220 and 472/ Ngu Hanh Son 220. These are two medium-voltage transmission lines with aerial connection (open operation) through MC 471 Dong Tra, supplying power to the loads on the tourist route connecting Da Nang City and Hoi An City; including important loads such as maternity - pediatric hospital, Ngu Hanh Son district hospital, Ngu Hanh Son district People's Committee…"The project contributes to promoting the construction of Da Nang power grid into a smart grid."

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh - Deputy General Director of Central Power Corporation congratulated Da Nang PC for putting the DAS system into operation. This step has demonstrated the ability of the leadership staff and technical department of the Company in timely grasping the technologies, applying and developing on the actual power grid. “I believe that with this effort, PC Da Nang will continue to succeed in Phase 2 of the project when adding more feeders and more complex devices. I also hope that PC Da Nang will be the leading unit among 13 Power companies under the Corporation to apply new technology and automate the power grid," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh.
