Construction started in July 2021, despite many technical difficulties and especially the Covid-19 pandemic, but with the determination and spirit of overcoming difficulties and efforts of the technical staff, the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center with the support from EVNHCMC has enabled the Center to complete this project on schedule.
This is the second control center of the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center. The first control center is currently operating on the 6th floor of the Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation (Green Power) building.
The total investment of the project is 73 billion VND. The remarkable thing about the construction of Control Center 2 is the amount of self-realization. The work from design, planning, implementation, installation, and configuration is done by the Center's engineers and staff in coordination with the employees of the Corporation, Information Technology Company, High Voltage Grid Company.
Control Center 2 is installed on the 9th floor of the working building of Tan Binh Power Company, 117 Pho Quang Street, Tan Binh District. Center 2 includes: 1 rectification room with enough space for 5 dispatchers to work together, 1 telecommunications service room for private use, 1 room for the technical - method department, 1 room for Center leaders, 1 room grid operation meeting and 1 shift break room for dispatchers.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation Luan Quoc Hung said that Control Center 2 project has been put into operation and meets the set schedule with technical criteria according to the method of operation. The project has been approved by the Corporation, meeting very high reliability in terms of monitoring, controlling the operation of the power grid of Ho Chi Minh City, and contributing to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as demonstrating the ability to technology self-mastery, self-implementation of the technical staff of the Center in particular and the Power Corporation of Ho Chi Minh City in general. The construction of Control Center 2 also actively contributes to the roadmap of power grid modernization, the digitization roadmap at Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation, and the general development of the city.
“Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation is proud to be the first power distribution unit in EVN to have a 2nd Control Center equipped with more advanced technology than the 1st Control Center. With the parallel operation of 2 Control Centers that are geographically independent and independent of control software, even if a serious problem occurs - one Control Center cannot operate, the other Center will still be able to operate. He immediately took command of the operation of the entire Ho Chi Minh City power grid, but the quality of the grid operation was completely unchanged,” said Luan Quoc Hung, Deputy General Director of HCMC Power Corporation.
